digiKam and XMP metadata

If you read this web site regulary, you will have seen a poll to survey user wishes.
The last one is this entry. As you can see, XMP metadata support is on the top of the list...
Andreas Huggel (Exiv2 library author) has work recently to support XMP and provided a first alpha version to test. I have patched libkexiv2 and digiKam for KDE4 to support it.
Well now, digiKam and Showfoto are able to display XMP contents on Metadata sidebar !
This is the first stage to support XMP in digiKam. The next one will be to handle XMP contents to extract or write informations like Exif and IPTC metadata.
The digiKam source code is not yet committed into svn. The Exiv2 source code which supports XMP still in a development branch. I wait than Andreas merge this branch to trunk from Exiv2 repository. This will be done for the next stable 0.16 release of Exiv2 library.
If you have sample pictures which include XMP metadata, you can send me these files by mail to test Exiv2 and digiKam...
