If you have already tried pro-software to manage photo as Lightroom(tm), Aperture(tm), or Lightzone(tm), you have certainly seen than the interface support color theme, generally using dark color...

This is now the case for digiKam! Following intructions from Daniel Bauer from this Bugzilla entry, i have patched KDE3 and KDE4 implementations in this way.

digikam0.9.4-beta2

Previous version of digiKam already support color theme but only on list view and icon view. This given an uncomplete color theme support... But now, look like digiKam become like a pro-software... In this view, Light Table from KDE4 using a Picasa(tm) like scheme:

Look like theme can be changed everywhere in digiKam using Settings menu entry. Now Image Editor in action using dark colors to give high contrast:

A color sheme is appplied everywhere in interface. This include kipi-plugins, image editor plugins and Camera Interface:

Note than color themes are saved in XML files and can be edited easily to test new schemes. Also, digiKam provide a small program to help you with theme conception: "digikamthemedesigner"
