Raw format

I think some kind of raw format is indispensable for a "future photography" format. Being able to set the white-point after the actual shot and highlight recovery are two very important features.
I think it's just not about higher bit-depth. Obviously file formats for digital cameras have other needs than image file formats that were developed before digital cameras were widely used.
