Today, i recieve my new pro lens for my Minolta Dynax 5D: a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 EX DG Macro
This zoom is very impressive. It use a fixed 2.8 aperture for all focal values: it's very luminous. Motor is very quiet and fast. It's really a pleasure to take pictures. I will switch from developper mode to photographer mode for a while (:=)))...
Note: i just patched Exiv2 to reconignize this lens in makernote database. Now digiKam/Showfoto display the right lens name on metadata panel...

Sigma
Congrats Gilles!
I use Sigma for all my lenses, and I'm very happy with them.
Yeah! Really impressive zoom!
Yeah! Really impressive zoom! That's my cat! :)
Enjoy your new toy Gilles, you really deserve it!
Congrats!
Funny thing that I should find this here... I ordered the exact same lens for my camera just a couple of hours ago.
It's fun...
... the way a new lens can totally refresh your interest in photography. So many possibilities to try out :)
I hate you XD
Congratulations for your new toys. I'm saving for a CZ 16-80 and 70-300G for my Sony.
Happy shooting
I would love to hear how you feel about this one
after you have had a chance to use it for a while. I have a sigma camera so Sigma lenses are pretty much the easiest option for me.... I was looking for purhaps a prime around the 200 range but if the 70-200 is good enough.
Nice grab. I've tested the
Nice grab. I've tested the Nikon version, and it's a very good lens.
By the way. I see you still use the glorious KM7D. And talking about makernotes... will we ('we' is Sony users) ever have a chance to see the Sony makernotes available in Exiv2?
It's really a pity to have this "loss" of information, considering that Sony kept the KM structures very much.
Bye!
Sony makernote support...
Yes, it's in my todo list...
As i will be a future Sony camera user, Sony makernotes still in my todo list.
Sony Makernotes are based on on old Minolta. It's just an extension. As i have implemented Exiv2 Minolta makernotes support in the past, i will do Sony stuff to... I just need more free time (:=)))...
