Sony makernotes supports : I need pictures to work...
I decided to start soon the implementation of Sony Makernotes support on Exiv2 library.
In fact since Sony acquire Minolta compagny to sold photography devices in 2006, new Sony camera are based on Minolta firmware, and Markernotes from RAW/JPEG files are based on Minolta contents.
Like i use an old Minolta Dynax 5D camera, i have previously implemented Minolta Makernotes support in Exiv2 library. It will be easy to make a wrapper into Sony metadata parser and use Minolta database with some adjustments about last cameras available on the market.
For that, i need help from users, especially pictures taken with last Sony cameras. For each models, i needs:
- One shot in RAW, horizontally oriented
- One shot in RAW, vertically oriented
- One shot in JPEG, horizontally oriented
- One shot in JPEG, vertically oriented
I'm interested especially by these Sony cameras:
- Alpha 900
- Alpha 700
- Alpha 350
- Alpha 300
- Alpha 200
- Alpha 100
- All Cyber-shot models based on Minolta design
If you have of of this, please send me images files by mail using my GMail account. Thanks in advance for your help

As usual good source of RAW
As usual good source of RAW files is

They have RAW examples for A100, A700 and A900.
Sony Makernote, a700
First, thanks. Really. As I wrote in another comment, that's the only thing I miss in digikam. Again, thanks.
For A700 pictures, here is my flickr account: Stefano.
For the rest, I'm sure you're already aware but ExifTools have (mostly) complete list of Sony Makernotes: see this link to ExifTool.
Bye Gilles!
ExifTool Sample Images
ExifTool also has lots of sample image files (with the image data replaced)
available here:
http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/sample_images.html
That covers over 2,900 camera models from over 60 manufacturers.
I'm a big fan of ExifTool and use it to work around a lot of the shortcomings
in Exiv2 and digiKam. I know that Exiv2 is not necessarily intended to be as
comprehensive, but, as a Canon user, the single biggest issue I have with
digiKam is that it uses Exiv2 and Exiv2 cannot write tag metadata to Canon CR2
RAW files.
I don't really care about writing any other kinds of metadata to CR2 from
digiKam, as I only do that rarely and ExifTool can do it from scripts, but
I've reached the point where I'm going to have to write a script to use
ExifTool to copy digiKam tag data from the SQLite database to the CR2 files.
Gilles, I know you are a Konica/Minolta/Sony user, so you will obviously
give that priority, but is there any hope that Canon CR2 shooters will get
CR2 tag metadata writing support in Exiv2/digiKam any time soon?
Alpha 800
I'll send you some shots from the Alpha 800 as soon as I get it too.
Hopefully this summer. Hopefully full frame. Hopefully about 14 Megapixels. Hopefully a low noise/high iso ratio. Hopefully I can afford the SAL2470 2.8 lens at the same time.

P.S. CAPTCHA's suck
I shoot with an alpha 100,
I shoot with an alpha 100, here's my flickr account if you want to hunt down some photos:

This set has all straight-from-camera jpegs, from back before I got comfortable with post and raw shooting:

If you want raws, I have some of those too, shoot me a message on flickr and I'll figure out how to get you some.
Makernotes for Sony dSLR models
As already mentioned by another poster, you can find raw files from some of these models at http://raw.fotosite.pl
I also have a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D, and I've appreciated your efforts to support more metadata from it. I also have a Sony A700 now (super camera and would make a great upgrade to your 5D), so it's nice to hear that you're working to support makernotes from it, too.
If you don't see what you need via the links already posted, update this page and I'll be happy to send you some .arw files from an A700. I almost always shoot raw+jpeg with mine, so I've got thousands of raw and jpeg files from one.
