digiKam Recipes 4.0.11 Released
As you may recall, I recently switched to GitBook.io as my primary publishing platform. Alas, my GitBook.io experiment didn't last long. Everything worked smoothly until I encountered a rather serious issue: for some reason, EPUB, MOBI, and PDF files generated by the service didn't include any images. I duly submitted a bug report and tried to contact the developers via Twitter, but I got no response.
This is not the end of the world, of course, but it's a good reason to find a better and more reliable alternative. I did some research, considered the available options, and decided to go the DIY way. Continue to read

Dear digiKam fans and users,
The digiKam Team is proud to announce the release of digiKam Software Collection 4.4.0. This release includes some new features:
- Slideshow support multi-monitors computer and use a new OSD widget. Users can also change Tags and Labels through keyboard shortcuts.
- New keyboard shortcut to switch on/off color managed view for thumbnails and preview.
- New keyboard shortcuts to improve usability while photo review (as to switch focus on text edit widget, or to toggle tags view). It's also possible to navigate between pictures using PageUp/PageDown while editing properties through captions/tags sidebar.
After a second long bugs triage since 4.3.0 release, we have worked hard to close another sets of reported issues.. See the new list of the issues closed in digiKam 4.4.0 available through the KDE Bugtracking System.

- New option to display all non geo-located images from collections.
- New notification event when kio-slave cannot be started. OSX event notifier is now used to dispatch notifications under Mac.

digiKam Software Collection 4.2.0 released…
Dear digiKam fans and users,
The digiKam Team is proud to announce the release of digiKam Software Collection 4.2.0. This release includes important features to simplify photograph workflow :
- New view on left sidebar to search quickly items with assigned Labels.
- On tags tree-view a new option to show items with no tag.
These features have been introduced by Mohamed Anwer Google Summer of Code project which have been completed in time and judged ready for production.

The digiKam Team is proud to announce the release of digiKam Software Collection 4.1.0. This release includes many fixes since the previous stable release 4.0.0:
- The face management feature has seen huge improvements and includes fixes for some problems introduced in recent releases.
- The detection and recognition of faces is now more robust and suitable for production.
- All icon views now have a new overlay to identify photos that have geo-location information, making it easier for users to search albums for photos with GPS coordinates.
- The maximum thumbnail size is now 512 pixels, up from 256 pixels previously, improving their appearance on high-resolution displays.

digiKam team is proud to announce the release of digiKam Software Collection 4.0.0. This version, include many new features introduced by completed GSoC 2013 projects:
- A new tool dedicated to organize whole tag hierarchies. This new feature is relevant of GoSC-2013 project from Veaceslav Munteanu. Veaceslav has also implemented multiple selection and multiple drag-n-drop capabilities on Tags Manager and Tags View from sidebars, and the support for writing face rectangles metadata in Windows Live Photo format.
- A new maintenance tool dedicated to parse image quality and auto-tags items automatically using Pick Labels. This tool is relevant to another GoSC-2013 project from Gowtham Ashok.
Showfoto thumbbar is now ported to Qt model/view in order to switch later full digiKam code to Qt5. This project is relevant to another GoSC-2013 project from Mohamed Anwer.
