Just in time for this new year 2011, digiKam team is proud to announce the first digiKam Software Collection 2.0.0 beta release!
With 2.x, digiKam include now all shared libraries maintained by digiKam team plus kipi-plugins source code, as a software collection. The goal is to simplify packaging to reduce external dependencies.
digiKam software collection 2.0.0 include all Google Summer of Code 2010 projects, as XMP sidecar support, Face Recognition, Image Versioning, and Reverse Geocoding. All this works have been processed during Coding Sprint 2010. You can find a resume of this event at this page.
Although digiKam can’t rival dedicated image manipulation applications like the GIMP, it does have several essential editing tools which can help you to turn plain photos into striking images. digiKam team is proud to announce that a new windows installer for digiKam software collection is available. You can download it from here
This installer includes a copy of all the dependencies of digiKam and kipi-plugins including Qt 4.6.2, KDE 4.4.4, exiv2 0.21, libkdcraw 1.3.0, libraw 0.12.1, etc...
Unfortunately, this port of digiKam under windows is not yet as stable as the linux version.
digiKam works mostly fine under windows, but some features are still broken due to some bugs in the underlying KDE libraries.

or if only one color component match the condition. Image Editor : New options to adjust the levels of over/under exposed pixels from histogram,

loaded image in editor. You can keep the original proportions of the image after
cropping.
If you want to install digiKam on Windows, you have two options: you can either compile the application from the source code or you can use the KDE Windows installer. The latter approach is by far the easiest one, but there is a drawback: the installer usually includes an older version of digiKam. If you can live with that, and you don’t feel like getting your hands dirty with compiling digiKam from the source, then the KDE installer is the way to go. Continue to read
