Dear all digiKam fans! With the 0.9.2-beta1 release we start into a new release cycle that is planned to be culminating in a 0.9.2 final release mid June. This beta1 version is already very stable, don't hesitate to use it for production. Beta1 and beta2 are rather used to improve usability than debugging.
In order to make digiKam 0.9.2 compile you need to compile and install libkexiv2 and libkdcraw first. The english documentation can be downloaded as well.
After two release candidates the digiKam team is proud again to present a major improvement to digiKam and its plugins. The many new features are highlighted below. For more information and resolved issues we kindly refer you to the Changelog.
The digiKam developer team thanks everybody who has gone through the pains of compiling, has been helping finding bugs and keep digiKam ahead of the pack.
The tarball can be downloaded from SourceForge. Kubuntu packages will be available on short notice here (thanks to Achim).
Another step in 0.9.1 release cycle is accomplished: RC1 is available for download and testing from 0.9.1 release. The sources are on sourceforge.net as well. A compiled Kubuntu package is here (thanks to Achim). 0.9.1-final is expected in a weeks time. Download, compile and enjoy!
It is a bugfix and usability release.
For new features of 0.9.1 please refer to the 0.9.1-beta1 release note. With RC1 many things changed under the hood (Gilles prepares the future), but some stuff, in particular on the core slide show has been added, improved and fixed as well:
After 8 days of intensive work, I'm very proud to announce the first LibKdcraw shared library 0.1.0 beta release.
LibKdcraw is a C++ interface around a dcraw binary program used to decode RAW picture files. This library is actually used by kipi-plugins (trunk), and later on by digiKam (with future 0.9.2 release). A RAWConverter screenshot can be seen at this url
The library documentation is available in the header files. Check at svn trunk repository for details.
The digiKam team is proud to announce the first beta release digiKam 0.9.1 and digiKamimageplugins 0.9.1.
The digiKam team approaches another release step with 0.9.1-beta1 (including digikamimageplugins-0.9.1-beta1 and libkexiv2-0.1.0 as separate packages, libkexiv2 is required). The files are online at at this url
This is a bug-fix and usability release with several new features for viewing and slideshows that even display RAW files. Plans are to put -rc1 in a week and -final in two weeks time online.
The digiKam team is very proud to release the final 0.9.0 sources as a Xmas present to you. digiKam is complemented by a corresponding digikamImagePlugin release and a kipi-plugins introducing enticing new features. Binaries from your Linux distribution will be available shortly.
digiKam has made big headway towards a professional image management tool that compares favorably to heavy weights from Adobe and Apple. 16 bit Colormanagement workflow, Raw file support, full Metadata features including GPS data, to name only the most important ones. And it remains very user friendly!
